2012 has been a year of varied top quality posts, check out some of the best here:
Two series deserve special attention, both translations by Richard Stonell. The first, The Flowering Tree of Gekken, is a translation of an 1855 treatise on shinai/bogu practise; the second – The Itto Ryu Book of Oral Recollections – was written in the 19th century and published in the 20th century by Takano Sasaburo. Both series explicitly refer to Itto-ryu, the traditional school of swordsmanship that has/had the deepest influence on modern day kendo. Please click the images below to view the articles.
